However, not all marine creatures are meant to be touched. They may be sea animals with organisms poisonous to humans. The beach was filled with thin, aqua-blue circular glass pieces. From afar, there seem to be lines of waves that hit the beach. The scene looked magical!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1978\" src=\"http:\/\/gtgoodtimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/pic2-11.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1536\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gtgoodtimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/pic2-11.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/gtgoodtimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/pic2-11-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/gtgoodtimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/pic2-11-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/gtgoodtimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/pic2-11-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/gtgoodtimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/pic2-11-1536x1152.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These blue seafarers are called <em>\u201c<strong>By-the-Wind Sailors<\/strong>\u201d (Velella velella)<\/em>. According to news websites, these jellyfish-like creatures could be seen on seashores of Marin County to as far south as San Clemente. During spring and early summer, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/PointReyesNPS\/\"><strong>Point Reyes National Seashore<\/strong><\/a> encounters these creatures stranded on their beach. While at sea, they use their translucent, triangular sails to free float around the ocean. Their directions are determined by the prevailing winds, and the sudden shift of the winds can cause them to change directions and get washed ashore. Once they reach shore, these creatures will die.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1979\" src=\"http:\/\/gtgoodtimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/pic3-9.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gtgoodtimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/pic3-9.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/gtgoodtimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/pic3-9-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/gtgoodtimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/pic3-9-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/gtgoodtimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/pic3-9-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These sailors capture plankton for food with their tentacles. Although the velella-velella is not dangerous or toxic to humans, it is best not to touch them. <em>Biologist <strong>Liz Sweet<\/strong><\/em> says that if you encounter the \u201cBy-the-Wind Sailors\u201d on the beach, they can be approached, but take precautions. <em>\u201cEven though it only stings slightly, you never know if you might be allergic. So, my advice is just not to touch them.
