Lee Wilson<\/strong><\/em> and his wife Renee\u2019s<\/strong><\/em> love story started in high school. When Lee learned that Renee could not date until she was 16, he patiently waited. When she turned 16, he immediately called her and invited her to their first date – a roller-skating party. They were inseparable since then.<\/p>\n

Fast forward to their 50th wedding anniversary, Lee wanted to especially surprise her with a gift she will never forget. Reminiscing on the years they spent together, he searched for the perfect gift. Suddenly, it came to him. He remembered that Renee loved sunflowers.<\/p>\n

Secretly, Lee put his plan into action in May together with his son. By the time their 50th anniversary arrived on August 10, approximately 1.2 million sunflowers were standing tall in the field, swaying in the breeze, all dedicated to Renee. Renee\u2019s reaction was priceless!<\/p>\n

\u201cIt made me feel very special,\u201d<\/em> Renee gushed. \u201cIt couldn\u2019t have been a more perfect anniversary gift than a field of sunflowers.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

However, the gift of the sunflower exhibition did not just amaze Renee. Their farm instantly became a tourist attraction, gar nering admirers from all over Kansas. Would Lee do the heartwarming gesture again sometime? He chuckled, \u201cOh, it\u2019s been fun, but I think one time is enough for us. It\u2019s somebody else\u2019s turn next year.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Although the field of sunflowers is a one-time surprise for Renee on their 50th anniversary, it is a testament to the great lengths one can go to prove their love to their special someone.
