Animal lovers start introducing pets to their children from the time they are born. More often than not, these children grow up being best friends with their pets and are amused by animals they see for the first time. At times, they can be amazed by the animals they encounter in the wild.
JunJun, an 11-year-old boy from Hsinchu, Taiwan, recalled that he burst into tears the first time he visited an animal shelter when he was 5 years old. He revealed that he was a dog lover from a young age. At the shelter, he vowed that he would help stray furbabies when he grew up. During the Chinese New Year in 2022, JunJun received a red Ang Pao and informed his mother that he would use 1⁄3 of the money to help stray dogs at the shelter. On the day of his 11th birthday, JunJun and his family visited a famous shelter in Taiwan, a place where JunJun could not help but burst into tears, the Xu Yuanzhang Nursing Garden.
During an interview, JunJun’s mother recalled that she asked him if he wanted to visit a shelter, but he always refused and replied, “I might cry!” One day, the family surprised JunJun by taking him to Tainan. When they arrived at the nursing home, JunJun suddenly cried for joy. He began to shed tears of happiness when he touched the dogs. JunJun’s mother became worried that too many dogs may frighten the little boy. He proved her wrong. Unexpectedly, JunJun cried and happily told his mother, “No, I am very touched, happy, and doing okay!”
JunJun’s mother recalled that when he was younger, he told her, “I will help the stray dogs when I grow up.” She told the little boy that he does not need money to help dogs and could be of other assistance in different ways. However, it was not until his 11th birthday that JunJun has visited the nursing home again and donated 1⁄3 of his money. The unforgettable birthday trip to the shelter will be his unforgettable memory forever.
During the interview, Junjun’s mother also revealed that they have 2 dogs and 2 cats at home. One of the black dogs named “Xiao Guai” is shy. However, he reacts violently to sudden movements. Sometimes, Junjun’s movements are so rough that they accidentally surprise the dog, causing him to attack and bite JunJun. His mother did not give up on the dog. Instead, she educated JunJun on how to get along with the fur babies.
Junjun’s mother shared his emotional visit to the shelter on the Facebook group “Meeks Biography”, which amused fellow community members. Netizens left heartwarming messages in the comment section, praising the little boy for his love of fur babies.
