For unknown reasons, stray dogs like to sit on the roof of parked cars. Theories from animal lovers claim that they love the flat and elevated surface of the car roof so they can see their surroundings and feel safe from potential threats. Additionally, the warmth of the car roof after it has been traveling or parked under the sun for some time is very appealing to the dogs.
One weekday in 2019, a female car owner in Thailand parked in front of a school to pick up her children. It was early evening when she arrived. When they returned to the car, the woman found a female stray dog sitting on the roof. The mother attempted to persuade her with food and gently encouraged her to come down, but to no avail. Staring in the distance, the stray dog sat unmoving on the car roof. Finally, the woman had to resort to help from people in the area.
The woman was picking up her children from school one early evening and was about to go home when a female stray dog named Sip Saen jumped on the hood and sat on the roof of her car. People in the area claimed she is famous since she often “sits on the roof of parked cars.” After failed attempts to make her come down, the mother resorted to some of the people in the area for help.
Some locals who were familiar with Sip Saen encouraged her to come down. However, the dog remained seated on the roof with a serious expression and stared into the distance. It seemed that she had no plans of dismounting from the car roof. After a few minutes, the locals tried to lure her with food. She took a few bites while the locals caressed her head to win her trust. They attempted a few more encouragements but still to no avail. Time passed for what seemed to be an hour, and the mother gave up any attempts to lure her down.
After learning from the locals where Sip Saen lived, the woman and her children got into the car and drove off with the stray dog still on the roof. Driving slowly and carefully, the mother drives 500 meters to the dog’s house. When Sip Saen saw her home, she instantly jumped from the roof and entered her home.
Although photos of Sip Saen sitting on a car roof were posted online in 2019, netizens found her so adorable with her firm and upright appearance on top of the car that they reposted her photos again on social media recently. Followers online left hilarious comments on the post:
“It seems she really wants to hitchhike.”
“This is the first time I have encountered such a dog that refuses to go away.”
“I really want to meet her! 😆”
“Dog: ‘No one can stop me from hitchhiking in this car!’”
“The people in the area should be very used to seeing this dog.”
