On Wednesday, the 14th of February, gunshots were heard during the parade that celebrated the victory of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl win. In the aftermath of the chaos, over 20 people ended up injured. Although a brave couple was able to tackle down one of the gunmen, people at the parade realized 1 woman was killed: a local DJ named Lisa Lopez-Galvan.
In mourning due to the tragic loss, her family opened a GoFundMe for funeral costs. Instantly, many responded and donated, but one celebrity donated a substantial amount just hours after the page went online. The family anticipated to raise $75,000 to cover funeral costs. However, famous celebrity Taylor Swift generously donated $100,000 to them. Although the singer’s donation alone could cover all costs, donations continued to pour in, making the latest total over $390,300.00!
“Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss,” Taylor Swift wrote with her two $50,000 donations. “With love, Taylor Swift.”
43-year-old Lisa Lopez-Galvan was known for her love of music. She is a co-host of a radio show called Tejano Tuesday, which focuses on Hispanic music. She is survived by her husband of 22 years and their 2 children.
“She was an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many,” Rose Lopez Shaw, the organizer of the GoFundMe writes. “We ask that you continue to keep her family in your prayers as we grieve the loss of her life.”
We, and everyone else worldwide, send our condolences to Lisa’s family during this indescribably devastating time.
