If you are looking for heartwarming stories about the unique relationships formed between UPS drivers and the dogs they encounter during their deliveries, head on to the UPS Dogs Facebook page. It shows photos and videos of UPS drivers and their meet-ups with lovable pups during their daily routes.
They bring toys and treats to their canine friends when they meet. They usually follow the same routes daily, and these drivers have formed a lasting relationship with the dogs they meet.
UPS driver Katie Newhouser loves to interact with dogs she encounters during her route. She especially formed a bond with an endearing Pit Bull named Leo among all the furry friends she met along the way. However, her friendship was not limited only to Leo. Katie was also a friend of Leo’s human mom, Tina.
Tina shared a story with Katie about how her son found Leo when he was still a puppy. He was fragile, too young, and very small, and Tina had to bottle-feed the puppy. As the days passed, Leo saw Tina as his mother.
Tina and Leo were inseparable, and their bond was amazing! “I don’t think that dogs ever forget anyone who they have been that close to.”
One day, Katie came across a heartbreaking post on Facebook about Tina’s passing. Katie was instantly devastated due to her loss and also because she worried about Leo’s future. Katie reached out to Tina’s son Cannon, and inquired if he would be taking Leo. However, Cannon was unable to do so since he was an active-duty Marine.
Resorting to the UPS Dogs Facebook page, Katie announced her decision to adopt the pup. “This is Leo. He would always start barking as I pulled into the condo complex. He would always jump into my truck when I stopped. His owner passed away, and now he lives with me,” Katie wrote, sharing her new journey with Leo in a heartwarming post.
Katie had 3 dogs at home and was very concerned about how they would react to a new dog in the pack. Amazingly, the dogs got along well instantly, much to her relief. “It was probably confusing for him at first, but he has adapted well,” Katie said. “He and his brother Moose are inseparable. Bailey, his sister, has taken a while to come around, but they actually play now once Leo was introduced into the house, the whole vibe changed.”
Although Leo had immediately bonded with his new siblings in Katie’s home, it took him time to adjust to the new environment.
“Leo missed Tina when he first got here,” Katie shared. “He would whine at night before he would fall asleep. It was heartbreaking, really. He still does every once in a while. I know he misses her.”
While Leo will always remember Tina and hold a place in his heart for her, he has found a loving family in Katie and his new siblings, who shower him with so much love and affection. The fortunate pup has found a forever home.
Leo is an adorable and friendly dog who always has a big smile to brighten your day. ❤️
