Inspiring tabby cat earns an honorary doctorate degree from a prestigious university! Vermont State University Castleton campus recently had a feline graduate. A tabby cat named Max Dow has been visiting the campus for 4 consecutive years. He has been on the campus more than some students and is awarded a diploma. He belongs to the class of 2024! Hence, most graduates of the university are proud of him!
Resorting to Facebook, the school staff recently announced that the Castleton Campus will have a special honorary degree recipient. Max may not be an ordinary college student, but he has been visiting the campus daily and socializing with some of the students and people outside Leavenworth. The friendly cat has been awarded the prestigious title of “Doctor of Litter-ature,” along with a diploma.
“With a resounding purr of approval from the faculty,” Vermont State University announced on Facebook. “The Board of Trustees of the Vermont State Cat-leges has bestowed upon Max Dow the prestigious title of Doctor of Litter-ature, complete with all the catnip perks, scratching post privileges, and litter box responsibilities that come with it.”
Initially, Max was a stray cat and was later adopted by his current owner, Ashley Dow, who lives opposite the university campus. Aside from living in a warm home, Max loves to visit the campus daily and socialize with the people. Additionally, he enters the offices of graduate students and deans. He is popular on campus and has already become a popular figure at the university.
In addition to rewarding Max an honorary doctorate from Vermont State University, the campus staff listed Max’s “Four Great Wisdoms of Cats,” and are as follows:
1. Learn to find a warm place under the sun, and then lie down and take a nap.
2. Although it is great to have nine lives, learn to cherish the present.
3. Purring makes the people around you happier.
4. Softness will get more love than claws.
On May 18, the Vermont State University graduation ceremony called Max’s name during a roll call, and all the graduates cheered with excitement. However, Max was unable to attend the event. Instead, his owner, Ashley, received the honorary degree certificate on his behalf. However, in a touching moment, the graduates created a shrine in his absence, complete with candles and a framed photo to show their deep affection for the feline visitor.
