A Hungarian photographer with his wife and baby daughter were strolling along Museum Boulevard in Budapest in 1987 when he took a candid photo of them while she was buying vegetables at a stall. She was carrying her daughter inside a sturdy plastic bag while the baby was nibbling on what seemed to be some fruit. Lately, the photographer chanced upon his photo on Facebook, but he neither knew who uploaded it or where it came from.
Vintage News Daily reported that photographer Attila Manek took a photo of his wife carrying their daughter in a plastic bag while she was buying vegetables and fruits at a stall in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, in 1987. When the vintage photo was shared on the internet, people compared his wife with Princess Diana and complimented her stunning beauty. Although the scene was unconventional, the photo instantly went viral when it was posted on social media after over 30 years.
Most mothers would carry their babies in baby slings when they take their children outdoors. The rare photo of a mother carrying her baby in a plastic bag made netizens marvel at the unusual scene.
When netizens realized that the photo was taken in 1987, most of them wondered where the mother-daughter duo is now. News reached Attila Manek, who had the idea to recreate the classic 1987 photo. In 2020, he recreated a modern version of the vintage picture. This time, they took some photos in the Budafok market. Attila’s wife, Marti, and their daughter, Eniko, who is now 33 years old, reenacted the same scene. She stood inside a plastic bag while her mother looked at some of the vegetables at the stand.
One of the photos showed Eniko carrying the framed vintage photo from 1987 while she ate an apple. A second photo showed her inside a plastic bag her mom was carrying, depicting the classic viral photo.
33-year-old Eniko is a chemistry scientist, and her mother is involved in translation and article writing and currently works for a medical company.
The comparison photos, which are over 30 years apart, have been set in 2 different locations. The 1987 classic photo was taken on Museum Boulevard in Budapest, where they were living at the time. The 2020 version was taken in the Budafok market. Netizens were amused by the 2 photos and left messages on Attila’s social media:
