A Big Brown Loves to Go Fishing with Its Female Owner Who Saved Him

It was a warm ordinary day at the lake when some passersby noticed a romantic scene on what seemed to be a couple on a boat. However, when they took a closer look, what they saw surprised them since the companion of a beautiful blond woman fishing in the middle of the lake was not human, but a big brown bear!

Veronika Dichka from Russia loves to go fishing in a lake in Novosibirsk. However, her fishing companion was not her husband or boyfriend but a big brown bear wearing a life vest. From the lakeshore, you may mistake her companion for a big hunky guy until their boat came closer to shore.

“I saw Veronika and the brown bear sitting on the boat,” a passerby said. “She was on the left and the bear on the right, sitting comfortably holding fishing rods. She would turn around to interact with the brown bear from time to time, putting her arms around its back. It felt quite intimate, and she was not afraid of this bear at all.” The unusual scene caused a stir among passersby, who quickly took photos with their phones. Incidentally, there were people with camcorders who also took videos of the duo on the boat.

The bear, whose name is Archie, originally belonged to a zoo. When the zoo closed down many years ago, and the animals were either released into the wild or transferred to another wildlife zoo, Veronika rescued Archie and kept him as a pet. She often shared photos of herself with Archie on Instagram. Although Archie is much taller than her, he is gentle towards her, like a best friend. They play in the snow, hug, and even carpool during outings.

Netizens online reacted to their photos on social media:

“It’s no surprise to see love in a fighting nation.”

“A real-life teddy bear! ❤️

“Is the bear wearing a life jacket? 😆

“Sharing a boat with a big bear. So much respect for them. ❤️”

“It turns out that the load capacity of the boat is so strong.”

“I went to the zoo all the time, and I almost thought I was a work-study student.”
