(Brazil, June 12) — A Brazilian woman fell in love with a funerαl director while attending a relative’s funerαl and began a year-long pursuit of romance — attending multiple funerαls just to see him again. Her persistence eventually paid off: the two tied the knot in May, arriving at their wedding in a hearse, sparking widespread discussion online.
According to Liberty Times, citing international media sources, 33-year-old Daniela Signor attended a distant relative’s funerαl in April 2023 in the town of Pinhalzinho, located in the southwest of São Paulo state. There, she was unexpectedly captivated by the funerαl director, Apollo Scariot, who was 31 at the time. His calm and professional demeanor during the ceremony left a strong impression on her.
However, due to Apollo’s deep focus on his work, Daniela couldn’t find the right moment to strike up a conversation. Determined to get closer, she began attending more funerαls where he was working, quietly placing herself in his vicinity in hopes of sparking a connection.
This unusual love story — dubbed a “funerαl-style secret crush” — lasted over a year before blossoming into a real relationship. Daniela and Apollo finally began dating officially last year.
Daniela admitted she couldn’t forget Apollo from the moment she first saw him, attending countless funerαls just to catch another glimpse of him.
In May this year, the couple got married and made a bold statement by using a hearse from Apollo’s funerαl company as their wedding car. To top it off, a banner “Até que a morte nos sepαre” is Portuguese and translates as “Till Deαth Do Us Part” was hung on the back of the hearse — leaving their guests completely stunned by the unconventional but deeply symbolic gesture.
